Imagine a world where you know what you want but don’t have the words to express it. Imagine a world where you have the words but no matter how hard you try nobody understands you. That’s the world inhabited by as many as 10% of preschool children. They may have difficulty understanding what is said to them. Frequently they are not talking at all. If they are talking, they may use only single words or sentences that sound more like short telegrams with all of the connecting words missing.

Oregon Scottish Rite Clinic’s Mission is to help young children communicate. If you suspect that your child needs help, please review the milestones, “when to seek help” and resource links on this page. Don’t delay in seeking help. Contact the nearest Oregon Scottish Rite Clinic or Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education Program in your county for an evaluation.
